Celtic have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of January target Niclas Eliasson following an update from the winger’s agent as the Championship club want to hold on to him as they push for promotion to England’s top league.

Various reports over the weekend that Eliasson had been “linked” with a move to Celtic this month, however an interview from the player’s agent puts a spanner into the works.

Bristol City Eliasson

“No, it’s going to be difficult. Bristol want to keep him for their aims to move up. Then he has an option in his contract the club will use.”

Eliasson’s Agent

Eliasson has a great record so far this season for Bristol and we can see why they wish to hold on to his services for as long as possible, with three goals and ten assists Eliasson will surely be regarded highly by the clubs manager.

However, at the end of the day money talks and Celtic could still land their man if indeed Eliasson is still a target of Neil Lennon, the lure of European football and winning trophies will turn most players heads.
