Celtic's Odd Ajer Dilemma
Celtic don’t need to sell Kristoffer Ajer in the Summer despite bizarre confirmation from the Norwegian’s agent that the stopper is set to depart from the Hoops.
The big defender has a value of around £20 million and still has twenty six months left to run on his current contract.
The Hoops have no reason to cash in on Ajer and agents do not dictate on whether a player is sold from a club.
We know that certain clubs are tracking Ajer and have been for sometime, but Celtic can indeed reject ANY offers that are made regardless of how any person may feel.
To be fair to the Norwegian, he has always stated he is happy here in Glasgow and loves playing for Celtic.
His agent said: “He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.
“There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.
“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it.
“There is generally great interest in Kristoffer.”
This is why his agent’s statement is baffling, this will be another case of a greedy agent trying to persuade his player to cash in and take the biggest offer on the table.
As we all know, its not always the correct choice for players to move to England and ply their trade.
Ajer will certainly get alot more money but things can change fast in the English Premier League and players can be forgotten about very quickly.
