Republic of Ireland Want Celtic Coach Duff
Celtic’s coach Damien Duff is wanted by the Republic of Ireland national football team, with an offer to become part of Stephen Kenny’s backroom staff.
The FAI are in talks with Celtic officials about the position for Duff as reported by THE42.
The Hoops coach is eager to take up the role and still continue to coach with Neil Lennon and the Celtic squad.
We can’t see a problem with Duff doing both roles as it would only benefit Celtic going forward as they would have an inside man who is dealing with quality Irish players who might very well become Lennon’s future targets.
The move for Duff would also allow the former midfielder to expand his knowledge and come a better coach.
Opinion Time
Lennon shouldn’t have a problem with Duff wanting to retain both roles and it might very well be in the Celtic manager’s interests.
With Football at a standstill at the moment we can’t see it happening anytime soon.
