Can Eboue Kouassi prove Celtic don’t need to target Glen Kamara?

Celtic have reportedly had Glen Kamara on their radar in recent months, but it remains to be seen whether he remains a target.

It is not clear whether Brendan Rodgers’ men remain keen on Kamara, but the reported interest hints that there is the potential for the Hoops to consider a January pursuit if Kamara enjoys a strong run of form heading into the winter window.

With that in mind, surely it is imperative for Eboue Kouassi to take any opportunity that come his way between now and the new year if he hopes to save his Parkhead career.

Kouassi has endured a nightmare time since arriving at Celtic for £3 million in January 2017 (fee reported by STV), making only a handful of appearances for the Bhoys in that time and spending much of his time sidelined due to injury.

Since being touted as Scott Brown’s potential successor upon arrival, Youssouf Mulumbu has joined, and Callum McGregor proved in Celtic’s last game before the international break that he is also a very capable holding midfielder.

The task facing Kouassi is already daunting enough therefore as he makes his way back from his latest injury. If Kamara is pursued and is signed in January, then it is difficult to imagine the Ivorian getting the chances he needs to turn his fortunes around.

As mentioned, Kamara may no longer be a player on Rodgers’ radar heading into January. But if he is, then Kouassi surely needs to step up over the coming months as he may be running out of chances.
