Celtic injury prone defender Marvin Compper has today confirmed that he will leave the Scottish champions in January as he needs game time.
The 33-year-old joined the Scottish champions last January but has managed just one appearance for the Hoops.
Compper has failed to make his mark under Brendan Rodgers with his only appearance coming in a Scottish tie against Morton last March.
Rodgers said: “As the leader of the team I will always assume responsibility for every single player who comes in to the club.
“Marvin was brought in at a time when I thought we needed experience to help us with the young centre halves we had. Unfortunately he came in January and within his first week picked up an injury.
“Really since that moment he has struggled for fitness. In that period other players have come in and performed well.
“So if you want to blame someone blame me as it is just one of those unfortunate things.”
Celtic fan’s will not be majorly concerned as Compper did not really play as big a role as he was meant to and it should free up some wages.
