Celtic Defeat Aberdeen In The Cup Final To Kick Start The Glorious Treble Run For The Third Year In A Row

Ryan Christie was the hero as Celtic made it a magnificent seven successive trophy wins with a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park on Sunday.

The midfielder, who had two spells on loan at the Pittodrie club prior to this season, scored what proved to be the winner with a shot in added time at the end of the first half.

Brendan had this to say:

“We’re Very satisfied it was a very tough game for us off the back of our run of fixtures,” Rodgers told BT Sport.

“We kept possession of the ball and it was a brilliant finish by Ryan.

“Aberdeen really helped his development, brought him on and he’s scored the winner against them this afternoon.

“He now has the personality to play at a big club. I felt when he came in he didn’t have the ability to make an impact.

“He came back, more physical, A better player in the game and he’s doing well now.”

Celtic are now chasing a whopping treble, treble! The League Cup is the first piece of the puzzle for the bhoys in what could be another memorable season.
