Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi is reported to be a major doubt for the Parkhead showdown against our Glasgow rivals next month, with the Japan international potentially facing an extended injury lay-off due to hamstring issues.

Becoming a cult hero amongst the Bhoys support, the striker has registered 21 goal contributions in 26 appearances; 16 goals and 5 assists. Despite this, he could now be ruled out of our crunch title encounter next month owing to recent reports.

According to the Scottish Sun, the 27-year-old will not be in the upcoming Japan squad due to fitness issues, whilst this may have a knock on effect for his chances of featuring in the Glasgow Derby as he hasn’t trained since returning for the winter break.

He will remain in Glasgow, though faces a race against time to be in contention for the fixture.

Losing Kyogo would be a huge blow for Celtic

Undoubtedly, losing a player the calibre of Kyogo for a long period of time would be a devastating blow for Ange Postecoglou. His goalscoring ability, footballing intelligence and constant appetite to work hard for the team has rightly made him the standout player in Scotland this campaign.

Hopefully, we can see him return to the first-team fold before too long.
