Graham Potter has stated that he is happy that Shane Duffy is still at his club as the Brighton head coach rates the Irishman very highly.

The 28 year old defender has been the subject to constant rumours and links to the Scottish Champions and Hoops gaffer Neil Lennon had admitted that Duffy is one of many players he has made contact with about a future move to Parkhead.

Duffy is the kind of player that Celtic fans would relish coming to join their club as Shane would bring back that raw kind of physical strength that the current side lacks at times.

However, progress on a move for Duffy has been slow, and now Potter has delivered an update on the player’s current situation.

Potter said:

“He trained today with us. Trained hard and trained well.

“We’re having a pool and darts competition tonight as a bit of team building, so I imagine he’ll be one of the favourites for that.

“He’s a fantastic guy. Fantastic guy. I have an amazing relationship with him.

“He’s a Brighton player and we’re happy with that.”

Celtic fans should take the Brighton manager’s comment with a pinch of salt as Potter isn’t going to slaughter Duffy and state he can leave just incase any deals breakdown.

The Irishman didn’t start any of Brighton’s last 6 games so any admiration that Potter has for Duffy seems purely on a professional basis.
