Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney is attracting interest from two of the biggest sides in Italy, according to reports. The Scottish Sun have credited both Napoli and Inter Milan with moves for the 21 year-old while there may be interest from England too.
The Serie A giants are said to be willing to test Celtic’s resolve with a hefty bid for the Scotland international who hasn’t had his injury troubles to seek in recent times.
Tierney has been a consistent performer for Celtic since his return to the first team in February. He did, however, miss a long spell earlier on this season. Tierney will also undergo double hernia surgery at the end of the month.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has also been linked with a move for his former player. The validity of that potential transfer in expected to hinge on the Foxes keeping current left-back Ben Chilwell though.
Celtic fans may not want to come to terms with the possibility of their favourite son moving away, but it is likely to happen at some stage. Tierney has played 170 times over the past four seasons. That’s a remarkable number of games when you consider he has had some severe injury troubles.
It’s no surprise to see the youngster once again linked with big clubs. There will come a time when Celtic’s resolve is tested with a large offer and the full-back may have to move on.
Although Tierney may never want to leave the club, if the money is on the table then he could have no choice. It is important that Celtic have a ready replacement to slot into his shoes if he does go.
