The Celtic captain has been a revelation over the past decade and served the club well, but time is getting on and so is Scott Brown.
Brown could still play for a few years yet but at some point his shoes will need to be filled and Celtic can’t afford to gamble on it. Celtic do not need to spend any money on a player as we have Callum McGregor who has improved massively over the years and made himself a first team player with hard work and dedication.
The 25-year-old has been flourishing in a more advanced midfield role this season and bagged a wonderful assist for Tom Rogic’s goal in the 5-0 drubbing at Dundee in midweek, but his manager reckons that a deeper position might also suit him.
But Rodgers and Brown should start the training now so McGregor is ready to takeover, there have been many names touted as a successor but McGregor has already proved he has what it takes.
