Celtic put in a brilliant shift today as Neil Lennon’s men destroyed Motherwell 4-1, but some fans still want the Northern Irishman to leave the club, are they being harsh.
Neil Lennon needed a performance and a decent win to calm the fans as severe pressure has been mounting on him for weeks now.
The Scottish Champions have been producing mixed performances over the last month or so and after a ferocious defeat to Sparta Prague last week, fans were calling for the gaffer’s head.
Today, the Hoops boss made a few changes to the squad that should have been made weeks ago, it seemed to work although our defense is still a working progress as Celtic look error prone still.
Some fans took to Twitter and slaughtered the manager even after a good win and performance.
A relieving victory, now don’t let the door hit you on the way out Lennon.— Dec (@allinthegameyoo) November 8, 2020
Can only hope the performance is judged and not the result there and Lennon is gone tomorrow.— Dec (@allinthegameyoo) November 8, 2020
The Motherwell keeper has kept Lennon in a job this afternoon #CelticFC— Michael Conway (@mconway1888) November 8, 2020
#MONCEL Just to demonstrate how crap Neil Lennon’s judgement is … @CelticFC were under pressure at 2-1, then get it back to a 2 goal cushion so he puts on the shambolic Shane Duffy … just to heap on more defensive panic— Andy Mullen (@AndrewJMullen) November 8, 2020
It’s like Efe Ambrose time. A white knuckle ride …
If the board were ever going to tell Neil Lennon his time was up as Celtic’s manager, it would have been done before this match against Motherwell and it would have been backed.
The fact that he’s been allowed to carry on with his plans for Motherwell just tells you that he’s getting a chance to turn it around this early in the season.
His past results are history and if your in the Lenny out camp or not, he’s still our leader in this crucial season, things can be turned around and the potential 15 point gap sounds more scary than it is.
There’s still alot of things that can happen between now and when we play those games in hand and going off this brilliant win today, Lennon could still be in a decent position come the 1st of January.
