Celtic fans can be pleased with Neil lennon’s latest press interview has the Hoops manager has confirmed that the squad needs a central defender as replacement for the departed Jozo Simunovic.
With Lennon already having secured the services of Elyounoussi for a further season and permanently signing the big Greek keeper Barkas, the Celtic boss now knows that a defender would be needed for this season as we are lacking some depth in that area should injuries occur.
The past two weeks, Celtic have been looking vigorously for another striker and although that would be an added bonus for the squad, we are pleased the gaffer has now made it publicly known that the club are looking for an extra defender.
With only Ajer and Jullien as the club’s main defensive duo, should one get injured it could prove a disaster for the club’s hopes of domestic dominance as Elhamed and Welsh would really only be the key players to step in.
Neil Lennon addressed those concerns at Friday’s press conference as he told supporters he needs a new defender.
“I need a centre half in because we didn’t take the option up with Jozo and I think that we need to add to the centre-forward position.” the gaffer told CelticTV.
