Celtic are in discussions to sign Liel Abada according to his father, and the family is optimistic that a deal can be achieved.

Ronen Abada discussed how they were burnt by Dynamo Kyiv when he was set to sign with the Ukrainian club, but that they are getting a lot more good feelings from Celtic.

Speaking to RecordSport, Ronan said: “We were severely burned from the saga with Dynamo Kiev.

“It was extremely difficult for Liel to pick up the pieces after that deal collapsed.

“This time, we have been very careful with the negotiations with Celtic and we are extremely confident he will sign.

“Not many boys of his age would have been able to bounce back from that kind of disappointment and deal with the expectations after that.

“He will be in good hands at Celtic and we are waiting at home for the news to be confirmed.”

Celtic have been very quiet in the transfer market, but it appears that they have been startled awake.

Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan is close to joining the club, and with the news that Abada is likely to come from Maccabi Petah Tikva, it may be two acquisitions in short succession.

The cost for the 19-year-old winger is expected to be about £3.5 million, according to RecordSport, although that would include add-ons and incentives, according to a trustworthy source.

Abada is mostly a right winger, but he can also play on the left or in the attacking third. Since joining the team, he has scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists.

He appears to be a real threat when attacking, but he will need to improve on other aspects of his game if he is to become a valuable asset for Celtic.
