Celtic are reportedly preparing to battle rivals Rangers in an attempt to secure the services of Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas, according to media reports, cited by the Bristol Post.
The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Championship outfit Bristol City and has impressed under Lee Johnson as The Robins aim for a playoff spot.
Kalas, who joined Chelsea back in 2010, is currently the Blues’ longest-serving player, despite making just a handful of first-team appearances during his nine-year stay.
The Czech Republic international has enjoyed loan spells with Vitesse, Middlesbrough and Fulham in recent years and has reportedly caught the eye of both Celtic and Rangers after helping Fulham into the Premier League last season.
Kalas’ current Chelsea contract is set to expire in 2021, and even though Chelsea have been hit with a two-window transfer ban in recent weeks, the Premier League giants may well be tempted into selling Kalas permanently, if the right offer comes in for the defender.
