Over the past week we have seen a spark in rumours from England that Tom Davies has been urged to go out on loan and Celtic are strongly linked, but another loan is not what we need or is it.
Once the rising star at Goodison Park, 2018/19 has been a disappointing campaign for Everton midfielder Tom Davies, who made only his second start since early October when he faced League Two side Lincoln City in the FA Cup Third Round.
It comes as Celtic have been linked, by The Daily Mail, with a surprise loan move for the 20-year-old, which would surely offer him more regular first team football than he is currently getting under the command of Marco Silva on Merseyside.
That may mean that a move north of the border could provide the spark that Davies desperately needs to revitalise his career and achieve the potential which many expect him to fulfill.
Given his existing contract is set to run until 2022, a permanent deal seems unlikely and a loan deal may provide the ideal opportunity to make a statement to boss Silva.
Struggling for game time and consistency, it was clear against Lincoln that one game every few months is not the way for Davies to show what he’s capable of, and that is something that Brendan Rodgers may be able to resolve.
