Celtic Lacking Bite At Back Could Duffy Be Key
Celtic walked away from yesterday’s game against Kilmarnock with a sloppy 1-1 draw and points have been dropped in their second match of the new season, Hoops fans are begging the club to step up and flash the cash in a bid to purchase another solid defender as both Ajer and Jullien lacked muscle as the Champions looked weak.
The big Frenchman had a very rough match as he unnecessarily gave away a penalty and for most part of the game got bullied by the Killie striker, his partner at the back Ajer, didn’t have a great game either, but this is the result of not strengthening key area’s in pre-season of which Lennon has been caught out on.
The Scottish Champions only have two main centre backs in the form of Ajer and Jullien and no real competition for either of them, this must be rectified as the squad can’t play in 4 or 5 different competitions without decent signings.
Brighton defender Shane Duffy has been a name that seems to be doing the rounds again just like previous transfer windows, and would make a fantastic addition to Lennon’s squad as the 28 year old has Premier League experience and a towering stature.
Duffy has been linked with West Brom but not being a key player for Brighton could mean Celtic can get him for a few million as our defenders need a shock to the system, a player like Duffy could spark Jullien and Ajer to commit abit more on the field.
With 21 games under his belt from last season, Duffy could be a key figure to his boyhood club and help us reach European football along with 10 in a row.
