Celtic have lodged a second bid for goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas as the Hoops are eager to land their top target for £4.1 million as Lennon aims to secure his signing from AEK Athens.

This offer isn’t much of an increase in terms of value but it does however give more sway to AEK Athens in terms of the structure which could permit them to give the green light and for Lennon to finally get his keeper for this important season.

The 26-year-old seems keen to make the switch to Parkhead and has apparently agreed personal terms with the Scottish champions, so all that’s left to do is for Celtic to agree a fee with AEK Athens.

The Greek club were looking to try and raise £6 million for Barkas but Celtic were never going to pay that for the big keeper, If it was Forster then maybe. (source)

In these current times, money will be tighter than ever before but Celtic do desperately need to sign a first team goalie and if Barkas is that man then Lennon needs to land him no matter what.

If Barkas does make the switch to Parkhead, we can expect the big man to be thrown into squad ASAP as Bain has lost his confidence wearing the gloves, hopefully Scott bain can find that form back and challenge for the number one spot once again.
