Celtic are still pondering a move for Christian Atsu as the Newcastle winger is still a serious target of Neil Lennon.

The Scottish Champions are still on the lookout for another winger as Lennon only really has Forrest and Elyounoussi at his disposal with Mikey Johnston still out with an injury.

Although Celtic still have the back-up of our wing backs with Frimpong able to slot into that wing role if needed, it’s still vital that Lennon finds a more natural winger to add to the team. (source)

The Hoops tried to sign the Ghana international on deadline day in January but that deal collapsed with Atsu opting to stay at St James’ Park and fight for his place in the side.

Now Neil Lennon could be back in for the 28-year-old once more as the Hoops boss looks to strengthen his squad for the push for 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row.

Steve Bruce has stated that Atsu can leave the Magpies and the club will listen to offers, with the winger clearly not needed it’s possible that Lennon can negotiate some sort of deal to bring the winger to Scottish Football.

It was rumoured when Celtic were first linked with the Newcastle player last January, the club were told from unnamed sources that Atsu wouldn’t be a good signing at that time as he didn’t have very much game time under his belt.

If Atsu still isn’t fit enough for a first team place then Lennon needs to cut ties and move on for good as Celtic need ready made players who can come in and play if needed.
