Celtic are ready to return to Charlton with a last ditch take it or leave it offer for Alfie Doughty as Neil Lennon has a specific role that the player could occupy.

The Scottish Champions have already had two previous bids rejected for the left sided player but the club remain adamant to make Doughty a Celtic player.

Neil Lennon could wait until January and offer the player a contract without paying a fee, but Celtic need a specific role filled quickly.

With Bolingoli sent out on loan, that only leaves Greg Taylor available for the left/wing back position.

Although Alfie Doughty usually operates in a midfield role, Lennon seems to have other plans for the versatile player and could be opted to play him as our wing back. (source)

With the signing of Shane Duffy giving Lennon the ability to play the 3-5-2 formation, there’s just one other area that needs strengthened for that tactic to work more efficiently.

Greg Taylor played a part last season but the former Kilmarnock player needs good competition for that first team spot and Doughty could be the player to give him a run for his money.
