Celtic are aiming to secure a deal to bring Preston North End central defender Ben Davies to Parkhead as the Scottish Champions are eager to strengthen their defense.

The Hoops join Bundesliga sides Cologne and Stuttgart in the battle to sign the 25-year-old, who is is out of contract in June.

Ben Davies is a key part of Preston’s team and the club are trying to convince him to stay with them in the English Championship.

Neil Lennon is rumoured to rate the 25 year old defender very highly and would love to add him to his 9 in a row winning squad as the Hoops are aiming to make it 10 titles in a row this season.

The Hoops are trying to tie down Davies on a pre-contract in January but could still attempt to get him on the cheap in this window.

Davies could bring some much needed versatility to the Celtic squad as he can play in both CB and LB roles which would greatly benefit Lennon.

Davies has come through the ranks at Preston and has made over 100 appearances in his seven years at the club, as well as over 100 appearances spanning across five loan spells with various clubs.

Hopefully Celtic can get a deal done for the 25 year old as it looks like we could lose a few key players between now and next summer.
