Celtic Star Will Emulate Tierney Price Tag In Future Parkhead Exit
When Kieran Tierney left his childhood club Celtic in the summer of 2019 to join Premier League powerhouses Arsenal, Celtic earned a Scottish record transfer price of £25 million. No one has come close to breaking that record, and it continues to stand. Yet, one young Hoops player is predicted to blast the competition out of the water when he leaves Parkhead in the future.
Since taking over as Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou has shown a keen eye for potential, seeing a vast array of emerging talents. During his first two transfer windows at Parkhead, the club acquired players such as Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Reo Hatate.
Celtic’s recruitment of Matt O’Riley from English League One team MK Dons for a transfer price estimated to be approximately £1.5 million represents their greatest transfer coup in recent memory.
Since then, though, O’Riley has become a regular starter for the team and has already been linked to Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund, and other clubs. According to This is Futbol, when appearing on the YouTube channel The Celtic Way, Sean Martin stated:
“Everything just mounts up with Matt O’Riley where I just don’t see a world – barring serious, serious injury – where he does not blow that Kieran Tierney Scottish transfer record out of the water.”
Since joining Celtic, O’Riley has been quite outstanding, and it is difficult to imagine he is just 21 years old.
It is believed that sooner or later, he will get a major transfer away from Parkhead, since he has been a fixture in Postecoglou’s starting lineup. Fans will hope that this day does not arrive too soon, but they will also recognise that it is inevitable.
Given the teams said to be interested in the Danish youth international, it would not be surprising if Celtic receives a transfer offer in excess of £25 million if a bidding war between Premier League heavyweights ensues.
