Celtic target Vaclav Hladky has indicated that he was unlucky that the Scottish Champions chose to go in a different direction in regards to signing a goalkeeper.

The Czech keeper was one of Lennon’s choices at the start of the summer as Celtic had lost both Craig Gordon and Fraser Forster.

The keeper who now plays for Salford City has stated that he wanted to explore the situation more in regards to a Celtic transfer but the timing just wasn’t right as Lennon had changed his mind.

“There were many opportunities from Scotland and from abroad as well,” he told the Express and Star.

“If we talk about these two big clubs, obviously it’s a great opportunity to go there.

“I mean, I was between probably two or three goalies but unlucky for me they picked someone else.

“Then I have to move forward, thinking what’s going to happen now or what was going to happen then and make another decision.”

Celtic had moved on and were going in the direction of discussing terms with Vasilis Barkas and a deal was made.

Vaclav Hladky could have still signed and would have been a solid back-up goalie, Scott Bain doesn’t fill Celtic fans with hope.
