Celtic target Barry Douglas is set to reject any sort of move to the Scottish Champions as the 30 year old wishes to play English Premier League football for Leeds United in the coming season.
The Yorkshire club had earned promotion to their top league after a successful previous season, Douglas managed to find himself falling down the pecking order last term and it seems strange that he would snub a move to a club like Celtic who were willing to offer him far more.
It has now been reported that Marcel Bielsa also doesn’t want to lose one of his key players and has stated that Douglas is content with his role at the club. (source)
It would also appear that Barry Douglas holds a level of leadership within the Elland Road dressing room and there could be a chance that Bielsa would use him more next term.
We are confident that Celtic fans will not be too disheartened by this transfer breakdown as the 30 year old’s talents were always hindered by his proneness to injury, which Celtic cannot afford to have in this vital season.
The Scottish Champions have already moved on in their search and it seems Lennon has set his sights on better players, the Hoops have been in talks with Doughty and Bakker about potential moves and both negotiations are going in a positive direction despite Charlton and PSG rejecting first approaches.
