Celtic Will Ponder Preston Raid!
Celtic are still highly interested in signing Ben Davies from the English Championship as the Preston defender still remains a target of Neil Lennon despite the Scottish Champions already having secured the transfer of Shane Duffy from Brighton.
With only a few weeks until the end of this transfer window the media are still claiming that Celtic are interested in potentially signing Preston’s key player as Neil Lennon still feels another defender is needed just incase Kris Ajer is sold.
The Championship club are reportedly looking for around £7 million for the 25 year old defender and there are other interested parties looking to fight Celtic for his signature.
Bournemouth have already had a £5 million bid rejected, so Celtic would need to act fast if they wish to secure their second centre-back of the window.
Davies has been integral under Alex Neil at Deepdale. It is no surprise, then, to see the likes of Celtic keen on landing the defender.
Celtic will probably return with a further bid here, too. The only issue for the Bhoys is that Bournemouth’s interest is likely to drive the price up, with Preston knowing they can now start an auction.
Davies is a quality operator, though. If he does end up costing upwards of £5-6m, then he’d still be a shrewd acquisition in this market.
