The Celtic manager lets us in on why he decided to drop both Odsonne Edouard and Shane Duffy for today’s game against Motherwell, and it clearly worked.
This meant that Albian Ajeti and Kris Ajer could both return to the starting line-up and the decision was correct, both players made an impact in the first half of the game.
Although we still looked sloppy at defending set pieces and even managed to concede one, Ajer still put in a decent shift today.
Those issues in defense we would hope, get worked upon in training more this week as there’s no issues attacking wise.
Both missing players managed so get a chance to stretch their legs with Odsonne Edouard having a direct impact on the game, Lennon explains why he chose to leave such big players out of the starting squad.
“It’s just to freshen things up. Shane has played a lot of games. Kris is fit and will bring a freshness to the back four.” The Celtic manager explained to RecordSport before the game.
“Odsonne, I don’t think he’s fully fit yet from the Covid and he’s started the last two games.
“He’s not been at his sharpest, it’s been a bit stop-start for him.
“It’s the third game in a week and we have to keep him as fresh as possible.
“We’re just freshening things up again after Thursday night.
“We’ve rotated the squad all season. Thursday was actually the first team we haven’t changed the team for a while.
