This transfer window will be a strange one as Celtic are in a rare position to scout their targets while most nations are still finishing their leagues, in the past the Hoops have had to wait until the death to sign whatever players haven’t chose to move to the EPL, Lennon has confirmed that he plans to get some moves completed but didn’t give an indication of when or who.
In the past, the Hoops can’t really sign their top targets until the English transfer window closes as most players will always choose the so called “big” league over others.
Its always a frustrating time for Celtic fans as the Champions usually do their business in private which means we don’t know who our targets are apart form rumours.
Re-signing Fraser Forster is the most important thing just now, but Neil Lennon’s transfer update brings mixed news for the fans.
He said the following to CelticTV after the draw with Nice today:
“We’re hoping to bring in a few more players as we go along. I am happy with the squad in the main and getting Moi over the line is agreat bit of business for us. So there’s continuity there for us going forward. The core group that are here I am very, very pleased with.”
This indicates that there will be players coming to Celtic Park but also gives the feeling that there might not be any signings soon.
It’s mixed news and it’s not fair to judge the transfer activity until the window is closed, but it would be good if the club does their main business sooner rather than later.
