Erik Sviatchenko has spoken with the media regarding his return to Celtic Park and the former Hoops star admits that he can’t wait.

The Great Dane has been linked with a move back to Celtic and has also been touted to be Ange Postecoglou’s first signing as Hoops manager.

However, since it was the Daily Rag that broke the news we shouldn’t really read anything into it as it has now been confirmed that Celtic have been drawn against Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifiers.

This would mean that Sviatchenko will indeed be coming back to Glasgow but to play against Celtic, the Danish side will not be an easy tie to get around.

They missed out on being crowned Danish Champions by 1 point with Brondby just getting over the line, the former Celtic player is their captain and has managed to play 28 out of 32 league games, so he will be up for a fight against the Hoops.

We also have to consider the fact that Midtjylland have been playing in the Champions League and getting good results might I add.

Going on a club basis, Celtic should be beating these kind of teams but over the years we have struggled to get to the Champions League group stages and this year it will be the hardest test yet.

“It will be an exciting challenge for everyone in and around FC , and of course, it will be extra special for me”, he said as reported by the Daily Record.

“I have great feelings for Celtic. I had a really good time in Glasgow.

“The years in Scotland were rewarding and educational. It was my first stay abroad and it gave me good experiences.

“I am still in a Snapchat group with Celtic players like Kristoffer Ajer.

“I had to learn to play for a big European club and on a winning team, where the expectation was that we should win every single match in the league – and that it had to happen in a specific way, where the game appeals to the 60,000 passionate fans in the stands.

“The pressure at Celtic is enormous.”
