Celtic fans might have to move on from hoping the club makes an effort to sign former Hoops player and fan favourite Wanyama as new Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho puts rumours to bed.

The Celtic rumours began when Fraser Forster signed for Celtic last summer and former team mate Wanyama told him to keep his number warm and he’ll want it back, Lennon stated that obviously he would want a player of Wanyama’s quality in the squad but it comes down to money and whether he’ll come.

Since Jose Mourinho took charge of Spurs the rumours continued but in a latest interview the former Chelsea boss claims neither he or the player have spoken about the Kenyan heading out of London.

“He’s our player. If he wants to leave or not, he didn’t tell me, we didn’t discuss,” he said. “We are calm about it. Good professional. That’s it.”

Celtic fans had hoped that Wanyama would make a return to Parkhead just as Forster had, these days in football Celtic just can’t compete with EPL wages and its the stumbling block in most cases.
