Ronny Deila believes Neil Lennon is the perfect choice to replace the new Leicester City manager.
Celtic fans were shocked and angry after learning that Rodgers had joined Leicester in the middle of the season. Many supporters and pundits have criticised the timing of his move to the Foxes.
With a triple treble on the horizon, many believe Rodgers should have stayed until the summer – creating a legacy. However, he decided to leave in February, ending the chances of that happening.
Former Celtic boss believes Rodgers was wrong to leave now rather than the summer, but he believes Lennon is the ideal candidate – alongside John Kennedy – to replace Rodgers.
“I was surprised, timing in football is not easy, the job in summer might be gone – this was a job that Brendan wanted but it’s sad for Celtic – at the same time they’ve made a good appointment with Neil Lennon and John Kennedy,” Deila said.
“I’m very sad for Celtic because he did an unbelievably good job. It’s important to have consistency at the club – at the same time, he’s been so good for Celtic he was always going to have a lot of offers.”
