Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that there has been serious interest from Scotland for Peterborough’s Ivan Toney as the English club’s owner would rather keep the player than sell him for a low figure.

There has been a rumour that Peterborough would be willing to sell their star player for a low £4 million as Celtic have been severely linked with the striker.

“Look, we have had multiple bids for him from Premier/Championship and one from Scotland. As expected. I wont go into who etc as that’s private. As of today he is still our player,” the club’s Chairman stated. And on the £4m bid rumour, he was quick to shoot that down, with the suggestion that the asking price is £10m.

The striker would be a perfect fit for Celtic and could easily slot into Lennon’s plans for the coming season, the Scottish Champions need some quality signings in the door ASAP as the season begins in a matter of days.

There have been good signs that Lennon could be set for a double signing with Barkas and Ajeti as both were due to fly in for a medical today and tomorrow.
