A former Celtic player has made a huge claim that Celtic new bhoy David Turnbull could follow in the footsteps of some of the club’s greats.
Since Neil Lennon introduced David Turnbull into the Celtic first-team the current Scottish Champions have been dominant in the central midfield area.
The former Motherwell star has been a breath of fresh air in a Celtic team that was running out of steam and had no plan B, Turnbull has been sensational in his recent games for Celtic and helped them give the fans hope for a brighter Celtic future.
The 21-year-old has scored 4 goals and has even played his part in another 3 during the last run of games under Neil Lennon.
We can clearly see that the Bhoy has talent and why Celtic paid around £3 million for him during the last transfer window.
Frank McAvennie has gone as far to say that Turnbull could even become the future Celtic captain, is this a potential role for the young Celtic midfielder?
McAvennie spoke to Football Insider:
“I think Turnbull is the future captain of Celtic,
He is a wonderful talent. The boy has fought back from a serious injury and been made to bide his time at Celtic but he has been incredible.
“He will eventually take over from Scott but I can also see the two of them playing together for a season or two.
“Scott can give him so much advice and he will show him the ropes over the next year or so.
“Who better is there to do so than the club’s most decorated player of all time”.
Although we can agree that David Turnbull has a very bright future with Celtic, to name him as a future captain of the club when he’s only just in the door could be slightly premature.
