Alan Hutton Predicts that Celtic won’t make any attempts to sign Mohamed Elyounoussi at £10 million as the Southampton player has not performed well enough to merit that huge fee.

The former Rangers player states that Southampton’s high value of the winger will put Lennon off from entering into negotiations in the summer.

The energetic winger has seven goals this season along with six assists, a decent run in what will eventually end up being a very successful campaign.

He said (source):

“He has done well and he is an exciting player,”

“At the start of the season, he got the bums off seats and got the crowd going but then he fell away a wee bit. He had an injury.

“It is a player that is going to come with a big price tag and high wages so has he done enough to warrant that? I am not so sure.

“I think Forster is different because he has been one of their main players all season and you could justify paying money for him.

“Elyounoussi has been a good player but I cannot see Celtic being willing to splash out big money. He started well but has tailed off.”

Opinion Time

Elyounoussi would be a fantastic permanent signing for Celtic and it would be ideal to retain his services for next season.

However, Southampton paid £16 million for him two years ago and will most likely want to recoup most of that fee back.

With what’s happening in the world, Celtic will have to be smart in the transfer market and a £10 million signing just doesn’t seem realistic.
