We can confirm that Celtic have enquired about the services of Riccieli who currently ply’s his trade as a centre-back in Portugal’s top league.

The Brazilian defender has impressed Celtic’s scouts and managed to play around 26 league games last season for FC Famalicão.

Celtic are light in the defending area of the squad and Kris Ajer looks almost certain to leave the club soon, this would mean Postecoglou must strengthen fast.

The 22 year old has a market value of around £1 million and is well within Celtic’s budget, Riccieli is also rated highly at the Portuguese club but Celtic have the financial power to persuade them to sell.

Ange Postecoglou has yet to make a signing although he has only just arrived in Scotland, we have been in direct contact with a few sources from South American football agency D20 Sports who represent Riccieli and many other top players.

We have confirmation through emails that at the very least Celtic have made contact with the Agents of Riccieli and his club about a possible deal, it’s still early days as the defender has many clubs after his signature.

The Brazilian is still only 22 years of age and could become a valuable asset to the club in the future.

However, the Hoops haven’t had much luck with signing Brazilians in the past as they tend not to take to our style of league but Riccieli could thrive in Europe under Postecoglou’s modern ways.

We will keep you updated with this transfer and hopefully Celtic can get a deal struck.
