Former Celtic Manager John Barnes makes his predictions over who will win the Scottish Premier League this season and its no surprise to anyone who the former England International chooses.
Barnes has indicated that is was only a matter of time before Rangers managed to get closer to Celtic in terms of points and this most of us Celtic fans can somewhat agree, but its not exactly a big deal as even though Rangers are in a terrible state financially, they still seem to have a larger budget than the rest of the Scottish league outside Celtic of course.
In the end Barnes did state that Celtic will obviously win the league and this is fact, its still too early in the season for anyone to suggest Steven Gerrard and his band of thugs will be any closer to Celtic at the end of the season than previous years.
The one key factor this season that will make a massive difference come January is that Celtic have more depth and quality that will allow Lennon to rest players so the Celtic squad will always be fit, Rangers on the other hand only seem to use the same players and Gerrard has already said on numerous occasions he will have to sell players in the next window and no players will be brought in.
“It helps with the competition of the league. Everyone said that over time Rangers will get closer to Celtic and that is exactly what has happened.
“I still think Celtic will win the league this year, but I think it will be much closer this season. Scottish football needs stronger teams.”
