Former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas has never been overly popular with the support.

Whether it’s been criticising the club for laps of honour or their transfer activity, he always seems to have a putdown.

But after the latest batch of Scottish Premiership results, it’s easy to see where we can now have a laugh back.

After Rangers clinched the signings of Jermaine Defoe and Steven Davis, Nicholas got a tad excited. He claimed in his Daily Star column that Rangers had done better business than Celtic.

His exact words were the following:

“Rangers are now title favourites after the first week of the transfer window.

“In August, I wasn’t worried. But I was aware of a new Rangers threat. With the loan signings of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, that threat is now very real.

“Celtic have countered by taking in Oli Burke and Timothy Weah until the summer. But Rangers have done the better deals.”

We are all sure that he is happy that his prediction was wrong and Celtic are cruising away with the title, or maybe not.
