Charlie Nicholas has made huge claims about Celtic’s title challenge this season as the former Hoops player insists that our hopes of 10 in a row are over unless Rangers take a severe dip in form.

The pundit seems to only be giving Neil Lennon and Celtic around 6 games to turn the season around. We agree with some of what Nicholas has said but on the other hand, there is still plenty to happen this season as another twist in the tale is due.

This will be the strangest football season the world will ever see and Celtic have had a more awkward start than their rivals.

Neil Lennon’s squad took a massive shock to the system when the first round of international games took place which then saw players catching Covid-19 and also fitness issues.

It’s not an excuse its fact, the Celtic players don’t look like themselves and there is clearly a problem. We will probably never know what exactly that issue will be but it needs to be fixed.

Nicholas expressed his views in his column.

“The past five weeks have been a total write-off for Celtic, with just five points taken from a possible 12 in the Premiership, not to mention two defeats and a draw in their doomed Europa League group campaign

“Neil Lennon is paying the penalty for his decision to chop and change his team.

“Celtic remain vulnerable defensively and he is picking players in a system that isn’t really working.

“Diego Laxalt and Jeremie Frimpong are both wing-backs, not full-backs.

“Kris Ajer is struggling and Nir Bitton should only be utilised at centre-back when he is up against lesser teams at Parkhead.

“Celtic have two games in hand, but the deficit could be even more by the time they get to December and play Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final.

“In terms of 10 In A Row, we have to wait and see how things stand in another five or six league games.

“If Rangers get to 20 games with this gap or more then it would be hard to look beyond them and I would say it was their title to throw away.”
