Patrick Roberts will be heading out of Middlesbrough when the transfer window reopens in a matter of days as the former Celtic star aims to get more first-team games.
The 23-year-old quickly became a fan favourite amongst the Celtic fans when he came to Glasgow for a 2 and a half year loan spell.
Roberts has had stints at Norwich City, Girona and Boro and it looks as though he will be searching for a new club in 2021.
The tricky winger returned to play under Riverside gaffer Warnock for a second spell but has fallen down the pecking order with the Championship club and is eager to terminate his loan deal to seek further first-team action.
Warnock, told the Daily Record: “I’ve had a chat with Patrick, he’s aware of the situation. The lad wants to play.
“I don’t want him to leave, but if he thinks he can improve his chances by going I wouldn’t stand in his way.”
Could this be a huge hint for Celtic fans that Paddy Roberts could finally be returning to a club that adored him so much?
With Neil Lennon lacking a replacement for the injured James Forrest this season, Roberts would be a very smart move and maybe Manchester City would be willing to finally offload the young player for good.
