Former Celtic Star In "Somewhat Tainted" Comment
Former Celtic player Kris Commons has used the word “tainted” on Talksport to describe Celtic’s ninth league title if the season must end prematurely.
The current Champions cannot be held responsible for this decision as the Hoops have played most of their season and are still 13 points clear of any challenge from Rangers.
Lennon and his squad have been fantastic in the second half of the season and are due their ninth title.
It would be a different story if it was Rangers who where top just now even by a few points, the SFA would stop the league in an instance.
What Commons said
“It’s a strange scenario to be in but I don’t think anything ideal will come out of this.” Commons told talksport.
“From a personal perspective I would like to think the season will not be null and void as if it never happened.
“Celtic, 30 games in and13 points clear of Rangers should be champions, if that is the case.
“It almost feels as it if would be somewhat tainted in a way that they’ve not carried out the full fixture list.
“But, as I said previously, Celtic are top of the league for a specific reason because they have proved to be the best side in Scotland up until these 30 games.
“There could be plenty of twists and turns remaining in these eight fixtures but, it’s one that, would Steven Gerrard actually contemplate that sort of scenario? I don’t know.
“It’s a strange one; the magic nine in a row and going for ten, you’d like to think that Celtic would fulfil their fixture list and everything would be okay in a normal scenario.
“But, at the minute, people’s health, that is the main concern. That is why we’re talking about this right now.”
