Jordan Rhodes has claimed that he would take a pay cut to join Celtic in the summer as the former goal machine will be a free agent.

The striker has struggled to make his mark in the current Sheffield Wednesday team and it looks like his contract won’t be renewed this summer, that could pave the way for Lennon to make him an offer to join the Scottish champions.

Celtic have been linked with Rhodes for a long time now and it always seemed like his ridiculous £40,000 per week wages were the main issue in any approach. (source)

There were rumours that Lennon made contact in January but that was a deal that never saw the light of day.

Where would Rhodes fit in?

Celtic fans would never accept the striker as a direct and cheap option to Odsonne Edouard if the Frenchman were to depart.

Lennon already has four strikers as it stands and Rhodes isn’t needed, he would still take up a decent wage in Glasgow and there are better players it could be paying for.
