Former Manchester City star and Celtic loan player John Guidetti has now came out with his story about his time on loan with Celtic FC, many fans will remember his fantastic goal against Inter Milan under Norwegian manager Ronny Delia but also the way he conducted himself off the pitch.
John played under manager Ronny Deila and was on-loan from Manchester City at the time when he was banging in goals. With the Swede’s contract running down its final year, John confirmed he was offered a Celtic deal by club management but he turned it down.
The former Celtic striker revealed what happened next.
“In my loan spell at Celtic, the club played a nasty game with me. In the winter, the club management offered me a contract, but I declined that,” Guidetti confirmed to Record Sport.
“The Scottish league was good for me to get fully fit, but my goal was always to play in England or Spain because I consider those two competitions to be the best in the world.
“Because of that, at Celtic I ended up in the stands. It was a real pity because Celtic are a terrific club and their fans deserved a better farewell from me,”
Guidetti was one of those players who had bags of talent and could have easily made it into most reputable teams in Europe but his ego always got the better of him, he always thought he was better than playing in Scotland and only came to Celtic to put himself in the shop window.
Celtic would have easily been a great move for him if he did decide to accept a contract offer from the board, Guidetti was still relatively young at the time and should have stayed for another season or two and built his reputation up then moved on, but the former Swedish wonder kid had a different mindset, he clearly thought he was better than he was and Celtic was a quick fix to revamp his somewhat failed career.
The problem was that Guidetti got his fame far too early in his career with Manchester City signing him at a young age, after that he was sent out on loan to five different clubs including Celtic before earning a move to Spain with Celta Vigo.
John Guidetti currently still plays in the Spanish league with Alaves, with featuring 16 times so far this season and only grabbing 1 goal I’m sure Guidetti will find his feet again as believe it or not hes only 27 years of age.
