Former Rangers old-co defender Alan Hutton has lavished praise on Celtic new Bhoy Jeremie Frimpong after the young Dutchman’s run of exceptional form since his summer move from Manchester City.
Most Celtic fans couldn’t understand why Lennon was wasting time signing a player for the future when we were really needing defenders for the present, oh how we were wrong as Frimpong has impressed everyone and forced Lennon and Celtic’s back-staff to sit up and take notice.
Even with his fee rising to £1 million as add-ons kick in, Frimpong is still one of many bargains of the season for Celtic, when rival former players can’t help but praise him then you know he’s a good gamble.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said:
For someone so young, he’s showing great promise. Every time I seem to be singing his praises.
He’s just going from strength to strength. He’s really taken his chance with both hands and grasped it. It’s a shame he missed out on the European squad. It would have been good for him to be tested at that level.
It shows you how quickly he’s come on this season that he’s not been included in the European squad. He’s probably for me, the number one right-back. It’s brilliant to see.
