Goalkeeper ‘begs’ to leave Celtic this month
Celtic goalkeeper, Craig Gordon has reportedly ‘begged’ the club to let him leave during this window.
Gordon hasn’t seen much game time, since the arrival of Fraser Forster and is unlikely too at all this season, with Forster even playing in most cup games, most recently against Partick Thistle. His last game came in the dead rubber Europa League tie against Cluj last month
The club have a capable replacement who could step into the position of second place keeper in Scott Bain. However reports are suggesting the club may be reluctant to let a keeper of Gordon’s quality go.
It may be worth letting Gordon go out on loan this month until the end of the season meaning he couldn’t play against, with Hearts reportedly lining up a move for the former Scotland number 1.
With his contract up at the end of the season it is unlikely that we will see Gordon in goal for the hoops again. He may not have been the most liked keeper of all time. However he had some great moments in goal, including the famous image of him celebrating Tom Rogic goal in the cup final of the Invincible Treble season.
I’m sure he will go with the best wishes of most fans, after a pretty successful stint as number 1 for Celtic, even though it didn’t look likely that he would play football again after a long term knee injury.
