Steve Clarke has hailed the comeback of Leigh Griffiths to the Scotland set-up as the Celtic striker will provide more fire power from the bench.

Leigh Griffiths has been finally chosen to represent his country once more as he could feature in the UEFA Nations League fixtures against Serbia and Slovakia.

Even though Griffiths hasn’t featured for Scotland since 2018, he still has 19 caps to his name and will be looking to add more goals to his record also.

Although Griffiths sometimes finds it hard to stay on track and stay in the current Celtic squad, the 30 year old has no issues with finding the back of the net and that’s why Griffiths remains the most prolific scorer in Scottish Football.

Steve Clarke said:

“When you look at Leigh [Griffiths] over the years, he’s always been a goalscorer,” he said.

“He’s a dangerous player in the 18-yard box. I think the goal he scored against Aberdeen a couple of weeks ago in the league, it shows you what he is all about really.

“Sometimes, off the bench, you need a goal. With Leigh in the squad, he can give us that option.

“The more options I’ve got in the squad, the better. Leigh is certainly one of those.”

For me Leigh Griffiths should be going into the starting squad ahead of McBurnie who is one of the worst players to wear a Scotland strip I’ve ever seen.

However, we also understand why Steve Clarke would also use Leigh Griffiths as an impact sub as lately that’s were he’s been doing the damage for the Scottish Champions.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Scotland are at 0-0 with 20 minutes to go and super Leigh comes on a scores the winner.
