Celtic fans were left sweating over a potential £13.5 million bid for one of their key players when the January transfer window hits as AS Roma were heavily rumoured to be interested in Jeremie Frimpong.

The young Dutch wing-back was signed last year for around £300k from the highly-rated Manchester City youth side.

Now only a year and a bit later Frimpong has become a key member of this Celtic team as he has shared his duties with Elhamed.

The good news for Celtic and the fanbase is that AS Roma have distanced themselves from any sort of bid in January and have stated they aren’t interested in signing the young Dutchman.

Neil Lennon and the board managed to keep all of their top players in the last transfer window and it must be a priority to do so again when January comes along.

Celtic have also confirmed that Elhamed would be leaving due to personal reasons and would be heading back to his home nation to be with his family, this would make Frimpong even more valuable and he must be retained.
