Celtic have reportedly been made an offer they might not refuse as AC Milan have apparently “sweetened the pot” in regards to purchasing Kris Ajer, the Italian giants are prepared to allow Celtic a pick of defenders to help aid the loss of their Norwegian target.

These rumours have been going on for months and Celtic have already rejected a previous bid from Milan with the Glasgow club stating that Ajer will only leave for £27 million.

Lennon will be at a massive loss if Ajer leaves for Italy as Celtic don’t really have any natural back-ups for the Norwegian, but AC Milan have now stepped up a gear in pursuit of their Hoops target as there is an offer of defenders aswell as cash.

The media reports:

Most intriguingly, sources insist Milan are also ready to offer Celtic a variety of central defensive options to help sweeten the deal and help the Hoops cope with the loss of Ajer.

Among the names being talked about for permanent deals out of the San Siro are Italian Under-21 internationalist Matteo Gabbia (20) and the Argentinian Mateo Musacchio (29).

As we understand it, Milan are prepared to pay a large cash sum and also allow Celtic to choose from a list of players to sign on permanent contracts, if Musacchio is indeed one of those players then we predict Lawwell will bite the hands off the Italians.

After eight seasons at Villarreal, Musacchio has played 18 Serie A games for AC Milan, Gabbia has started three matches and been used twice as a substitute this season.
