Celtic hero John Hartson names his most special moment in a Hoops shirt as the striker talks about his time under Martin O’Neill.

The Welshman was mostly playing backup to the deadly duo Sutton and Larsson, but when Hartson was called upon by O’Neill, he did deliver.

With 88 goals to his name it must be hard to choose one special moment, but Hartson only has one goal in mind and it was his cracker against Liverpool.

Speaking with Celtic, the Welshman said:

“I had some great moments at Celtic, in a Celtic shirt and in a Celtic dressing-room, some wonderful victories and brilliant results, especially in that UEFA Cup run where we got to the final.”

“But that goal against Liverpool – I think that was my special moment at Celtic. I had many great times, but you get one and that one for me was Liverpool away. It put the game to bed and gave us that 2-0 lead and Liverpool were never going to score two goals in the last few minutes of the game, not with the way we were defending that night.”

Opinion Time

John Hartson was a special striker that is rarely seen in today’s game, he might have not been the fittest player on the park but John makes up with his strong physical game.

Scoring 88 goals for a club like Celtic, while Larsson and Sutton was there is an achievement itself.
