Former Celtic playmaker Ki Sung-Yueng is very keen on a return to his homeland South Korea as the ex-Newcastle player is now a free agent.

Ki was strongly linked with a move back to Celtic as reports suggested Lennon wanted the Premier League star.

However, sources from South Korea suggest the midfielder is eager to return home despite many offers from England and European clubs.

Celtic’s Ki Sung-Yueng

“Ki Sung-yueng has a variety of options, including Europe, the Middle East, and China, but I think returning to Korea is the most preferred “

Ki had a pretty decent spell in a Hoops shirt as he won the League along with the Scottish Cup.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has plenty of other midfield options at his disposal and not pursuing Ki is the right move as the Bhoys have their own younger talent waiting to get their shot at some first-team action.

Ki is still a very talented player and would enhance most clubs that he would go to, Celtic are already stocked up with great midfielders and also have a few younger talents in the reserves.

His Premier League stint didn’t go to plan although he still had a decent career in England and maybe playing back home would suit him better.
