Lennon has confirmed that Celtic outcast Leigh Griffiths will miss out on Celtic’s Champions League qualifier at home to KR Reykjavik on Tuesday night.

The striker has missed Celtic’s last two games due to an ongoing calf injury and will not feature against the Icelandic club on Tuesday night.

After his partner shared images of her birthday party Celtic called an investigation after claims that social distancing rules weren’t obeyed, this had led to many rumours that Lennon has bumped the striker down the pecking order despite an impressive 30 minutes display against Hibernian before the season started.

With the signing of £5 million striker Albian Ajeti it’s believed that Lennon could start him against the Iceland outfit which would allow Lennon to play the 3-5-2 formation that Celtic mastered in the second half of last season.

Ajeti would also mean, at this moment Griffiths will be demoted to 4th choice with the resurgence of Klimala and now the signing of Ajeti, it doesn’t look too good for Griffiths.

If Celtic get the better of KR Reykjavik they will face Djurgarden or Ferencvaros at home next week in the Second Qualifying round.

The striker turns 30 years old on Thursday and could be forced into making a definitive decision on his future at Celtic as time and patience seems to be running out.
