Lennon Receives Welcomed Boost In Defender Deal
Celtic have received a boost in their pursuit of Shane Duffy as Brighton have quoted the Scottish Champion a fee to allow him to make the move to Parkhead on loan for one season.
There has already been numerous accounts that confirm that Lennon has held talks with the life long Celtic fan Duffy and the Scottish Champions have been quoted a £2 million loan fee to take the big defender to Parkhead for 10 in a row.
Celtic do have some competition for Duffy’s signature as West Ham and West Brom both are eager to sign the Irishman.
Lennon has that added bonus of managing Duffy’s bhoyhood club and this could be the defining factor that will close the deal. (source)
The fee that was quoted might be considered alot for a loan deal, but Celtic are crying out for an old school defender that just has raw physical strength and sometimes money must be paid for that quality, on the flip side, Celtic still could use that £2 million as a down payment and attempt to agree a fee for next summer that will allow the Hoops to sign Duffy outright.
Whatever happens with Duffy, Lennon must sign another defender as the club cannot go another 12 months with only Ajer and Jullien as our main men at the back, although we have Welsh to step in and also makeshift players such as Bitton and Elhamed, an experienced CB is required.
