Neil Lennon explained why on-form striker Leigh Griffiths didn’t start against Livingston as the Hoops managed to salvage a draw.
The Celtic manager said in his pre-match conference that Elyounoussi was chosen to start ahead of Griffiths to match Livingston’s physical presence.
The strangest thing of all about that decision was that the Hoops were still set up to play the 3-5-2 formation with only one real striker.
If Elyounoussi plays we would have thought it would be part of a 4-3-3 formation.
Along with the Griffith’s decision, Lennon opted to play both Taylor and Forrest as wing backs and neither suit that position.
“Just a little bit more physicality. We’re going to need that tonight. They’re a strong team and we need to be very strong and resolute.” Neil Lennon told BT Sport in his live pre-match interview (19:30).
“He brings a level of intelligence to our forward play. He’s in good nick. We missed him at the weekend and we’re glad to have him back.”
